Why does the Customs portal load slowly during peak hours?

Recently, Customs News received some feedback from readers about difficulty accessing the electronic portal of the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Regarding this issue, the reporter spoke with Deputy Director of Customs IT and Statistics Department (General Department of Vietnam Customs) Le Duc Thanh.

According to Mr. Thanh, the electronic portal of the General Department of Customs is carrying out two tasks in parallel.

Previously, it mainly focused on providing information to people and enterprises about guidelines, policies, legal provisions and professional procedures of the customs authorities.

About two years ago, besides the content mentioned above, the electronic portal of the General Department of Vietnam Customs also provided online public services at level 4 which allow enterprises to implement administrative procedures.

Up to now, the Customs sector has implemented 171 administrative procedures through online public services at level 3 and level 4, the highest levels according to the classification of the Ministry of Information and Communications.

“With the enhancement of new tasks, especially the provision of public services, it puts pressure on the systems of the Customs Portal. Recently, after strengthening the implementation of public services, the Customs sector has also received feedback from enterprises about the website loading slowly during peak times. This has a certain impact on enterprises in providing and retrieving information, especially the list of containers that have been cleared by customs authorities,” Deputy Director Le Duc Thanh said.

In order to handle this problem, at present, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has implemented a project of upgrading the electronic information portal.

In particular, the Customs authorities has upgraded equipment and machinery, reviewed the entire network infrastructure and transmission lines in order to be able to perform the tasks better and reduce the difficulties experienced by the business community.
