On 5th April, 2018, the leader of Dinh Vu port Customs Branch (under Hai Phong Customs Department), where Toyota opened the declaration, said that the Branch has temporarily released the goods for the company for storage at the beginning of this week.
Regarding the case, the leader Dinh Vu port Customs Branch also added that when detecting problems, the Branch has actively invited Toyota Company Vietnam to our office to exchange information, because the import procedures were authorized by the enterprise for a Customs agent.
"Working with the Branch, representatives of Toyota Vietnam also shared with Customs problems arising during the implementation of Customs procedures and said that the company will propose the Government and relevant authorities to promptly remove the problems” said the leader of Dinh Vu port Customs Branch.
Regarding the problems in the processing of the shipment imported by Toyota Vietnam, Hai Phong Customs Department has just submitted a report to the General Department of Customs on requesting guidance.
As reported by the Customs Newspaper, recently, Toyota Vietnam Company has opened Customs a declaration at Dinh Vu port Customs Branch to import 3 CBU cars from Indonesia. During the implementation of Customs procedures, the company has submitted an import licence issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade according to Decree No. 116/2016 / ND-CP to the Customs.
However, in order to complete the import procedures and Customs clearance for the shipment, the company must register the cars and submit the registry results to the Customs.
Toyota Vietnam refused to submit the registry result because they explained that the company imported cars for research purposes, not for business, so they do not have to register.

"If the company imports cars for research purpose, it will not have to apply for an import license from the Ministry of Industry and Trade according to the Decree 116. However, in this case, the company has applied for an import license and did not want to register these cars, causing confusion for Customs in carrying out the procedures” said the leader of Dinh Vu port Customs Branch.
