At the working session, GDVC’s Deputy Director General Customs Nguyen Van Tho welcomed Mr. Choo PinAng and FedEx senior leaders in charge of the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (AMEA).

Director General Nguyen Van Tho said that the GDVC has continuously implemented Customs reform and modernization programs and plans to promote the customs clearance, creating a favorable investment and business environmentfor businesses. FedEx has actively cooperated with the GDVC in the Customs reform and modernization.

The Deputy Director General said that the GDVC has actively reviewed, supplemented and amended customs regulations for express delivery, postal delivery services and e-commerce, including a draft Decree providing customs for imports and exports traded via e-commerce, and upgraded information technology systems and digital transformation.

The Deputy Director General also emphasized that during this period, the close coordination of businesses in building and perfecting legal policies, as well as technology systems, play an important role, creatinga solid foundationto further facilitate production and business activities and customs clearance of goods.

At the meeting, FedEx representative expressed support for the Vietnamese Government's national plans on customs modernization. In addition, FedEx is pleased to share best experiences for upgrading Vietnam’s VNACCS System. FedEx may contact the Ministry of Finance and Vietnam Customs with experts in Japan, Singapore and other countries. FedEx wishes to cooperate with Vietnam Customs in training cooperation.

In addition, the delegation of FedEx Express Delivery Company provided information about its business expansion plan in Vietnam and hoped that Vietnam Customs would continue to cooperate and make recommendations to help FedEx build an effective customs clearance system to properly serve the needs of Vietnamese customers.

At the meeting, the two sides also discussed on contents related to cooperation, trade facilitation, promoting express delivery and e-commerce activities, developing infrastructure and updating information on projects at Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat and Long Thanh international airports, connection and digital transformation…
