Hai Phong Customs helps enterprises to recover from post-pandemic

VCN – Besides implementing regular political tasks, Hai Phong Customs Department has concentrated its resources to support the business community to recover production post-pandemic.

Revenue collection reached VND18,437 billion

On April 7, Hai Phong Customs Department held a conference to review the work of the first quarter and deploy the tasks for the second quarter of 2022.

Speaking at the conference, Director of Hai Phong Customs Department Nguyen Duy Ngoc said that, in the first quarter, despite facing many difficulties, thanks to the leadership and direction of the Ministry of Finance, the General Department of Vietnam Customs and leaders of provinces and cities: Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Hai Phong Customs Department successfully completed the work.

Notably, the whole Department has received and processed more than 500,000 customs declarations (an increase of 10.5% over the same period in 2021) of 16,875 enterprises; 1,109 turns of seagoing vessels on entry and exit, 20,638 turns of crew members on entry and exit; 12 international flights and 1,543 passengers on entry and exit through Cat Bi international airport.

A total turnover of import and export goods through procedures reached about US$25,957 million, increasing by 17.9% over the same period last year.

Regarding state revenue, the whole Department obtained VND18,437 billion, reaching 29% of the assigned targets, reaching 27.5% of the striving target assigned by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, an increase of VND3,061 billion (equivalent to 19.9%) over the same period in 2021.

Regarding anti-smuggling and trade fraud prevention, Hai Phong Customs detected and handled 712 cases of administrative violations and fined more than VND6.1 billion. At the same time, submitted to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Phong City to issue a decision on sanctioning administrative violations, a fine of VND91 million, form of additional sanctioning to confiscate exhibits of violations worth VND276 million.

Focus on supporting the business community

Regarding tasks in the second quarter, Hai Phong Customs continues to focus on performing the key task groups: continuing to implement safe and flexible adaptation solutions to the Covid-19 pandemic; implementing the Government's Resolution, Hai Phong City People's Committee's plan, Directive 439/CT-TCHQ of the General Department of Vietnam Customs on the synchronous and drastic implementation of trade facilitation solutions, improve the effectiveness of state management, prevent loss in revenue collection in 2022; improve the effectiveness of anti-smuggling, trade fraud prevention, and illegal transport of goods across the border to control the situation, preventing the formation of lines and groups of smuggling passing through the management area.

Notably, Hai Phong Customs is determined to accelerate administrative procedure reform and customs modernization to facilitate the business community in production and business activities post-pandemic.

At the same time, the Department continues to actively participate in the development of Digital Customs, ready to pilot the Smart Customs model; proactively implement tasks related to digital transformation of Hai Phong city.

Furthermore, strengthening consultations with the business community and stakeholders; organizing dialogue activities to promptly grasp and remove obstacles for enterprises in order to bring the Customs-Business partnership into reality; developing a plan to organize a business dialogue conference (expected in April 2022).

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Director General Mai Xuan Thanh and Permanent Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Anh Quan praised the results of Hai Phong Customs Department in the first quarter.

“Hai Phong Customs was a bright spot in the first quarter. Besides performing professional work of the Customs sector, Hai Phong Customs had proactively advised and proposed solutions to remove difficulties and support the business community to restore production and business," Mr. Le Anh Quan said.

Regarding the tasks of the second quarter, Deputy Director General Mai Xuan Thanh requested Hai Phong Customs to continue to deploy solutions to facilitate trade, promote import and export activities, and attract investment in the area.

"Not only solutions in attracting investment but also accompany and support to keep investors assured to carry out production and business activities in the area," the Deputy Director General said.

In terms of regular tasks, Hai Phong Customs Department should focus on solutions to ensure the implementation of the whole year’s revenue collection. The unit must also continue to strengthen the fight against origin fraud and anti-smuggling.

In addition, the Deputy General Director directed the Hai Phong Customs Department to always pay attention to and strengthen public service discipline.

Agreeing with the direction of Deputy Director General Mai Xuan Thanh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City requested Hai Phong Customs Department to continue paying attention and focus on building up the Party.
