According to the representative of Chi Ma Border Gate Customs Branch, the branch has been assigned the revenue target of VND450 billion in 2024. Meanwhile, the changes in border trade policies by Chinese agencies have been affected the customs clearance at the border gate pair of Chi Ma (Lang Son)- Ai Diem (China), so that the branch has provided specific plans.
From the beginning of the year, the branch has developed specific plans for revenue collection by closely grasping the actual status and working with import and export enterprises, and removing problems for the enterprises. In addition, the branch has actively met and encouraged enterprises that import and export product with high tax rate and turnover to carry out customs procedures at the branch.
In addition, Chi Ma Border Gate Customs Branch has actively coordinated with local agencies and units to discuss and work with competent agencies of Ninh Minh District, China to implement solutions to improve customs clearance capacity and facilitate trade, especially Vietnam’s exports.
The branch has also held conferences to meet importers and exporters to discuss and notify advantages when enterprises import and export across the border gate pair.
The branch has worked with bond warehouse operators to reduce by 50% of costs of unloading and uploading for enterprises when they import and export goods across the border gate. The branch has assigned officers to work in holidays or weekend to process procedures for the enterprises.
Effective solutions implemented by the branch have created the trust from the business community. Therefore, many have carried out procedures at the branch. The statistics showed that in the first four months of the year, the branch has processed customs procedures for 800 enterprises, increasing by 500 enterprises year-on-year.
The positive results have helped import and export turnover across Chi Ma Border Gate rose 215% to US$125 million compared with the previous year. The increase in the import and export turnover make the branch’s revenue in the first four months of the year reach VND 273 billion, meeting 60.66% of the target and increasing by 209% compared to the same period in the year ago.
A representative of Thinh Phat Trading and Import Export Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Hai Duong province) said that the company often carry out customs procedures for goods in Lao Cai province in the previous time. However, after discussing with Chi Ma Border Gate Customs Branch, the company has seen advantages. Specifically, the customs clearance reduces because the transportation route of goods from China and Vietnam and vice versa is shorter, saving time and cost for the company.
The representative also said that the branch has collected and remitted to the budget from 55 to 60 billion VND on average each month. The branch strives to collect VND70 billion or more on average each month. However, to achieve the target, the branch will contact and invite enterprises to implement customs procedures across the border gate. In addition, the branch has closely monitored operation of enterprises to promptly resolve arising problems in the customs clearance.
In the following months of the year, the branch will implement solutions to prevent revenue loss. The branch will focus on taking measures to recover import-export tax debt; strictly control enterprises' declaration, especially declaration of product codes and prices; strengthen post-clearance audit to promptly detect and handle violations.
