Reducing costs for enterprises

According to Binh Duong Seaport Customs Branch, the branch has processed import and export procedures for over 600 enterprises, up 41% compared to the same period of the year, with import and export turnover of US$431 million, up 12.3% year-on-year.

The branch has inspected and supervised imported and exported goods with a volume of 463,000 TEUs across Binh Duong port, an increase of 50% compared to the same period in the previous year.

In order to promote import and export activities of enterprises, Binh Duong Seaport Customs Branch has actively facilitated enterprises such as regularly reforming and modernizing procedures, promoting the application of information technology (IT), modern equipment to support enterprises for fastest customs clearance.

The technology application and digital transformation in the customs processes at Binh Duong port has helped enterprises save VND400,000 - 500,000, even VND1 million in transportation costs for each container.

Manager of Binh Duong SeaPort Customs Branch Huynh Anh Tuan said that the application of digital transformation has created more favorable conditions for customs declaration and clearance of imports and exports. It has created a transparent legal framework, reduce time and costs, contributing to attracting sources of import and export goods to carry out customs clearance procedures in Binh Duong province.

Facilitating enterprises

According to Binh Duong Customs Department, currently more than 4,000 enterprises regularly carry out import-export procedures at the department. Enterprises contribute the third largest import-export turnover in the country. As of October 15, the total import-export turnover of goods in Binh Duong province reached over US$46 billion, an increase of over 8.1% over the same period last year. The revenue saw a year-on-year increase of over 16% to VND14,496.5 billion, reaching 86.3% of the target in 2024.

Since the beginning of the year, the department has detected 19 customs offences.

Talking with reporters of Customs Magazine, Mr. Le Ngoc Hoang, representative of the Import and Export Department - Vina Kraft Paper Company Limited, said that “As an enterprise specializing in the production of packaging paper, we carry out about 500 import and export declarations on average per month at Binh Duong Seaport Customs Branch. Handling such a large volume of work, the Company always receives timely support and favorable conditions throughout the customs clearance process at the Branch. This has helped businesses save time and ensure the smooth flow of goods”.

Binh Duong Seaport Customs Branch has assigned officers to perform customs control for cargo across the port 24/24h, preventing backlog of goods in the area.

The branch regularly works with enterprises to discuss and resolve difficulties for them, grasps information on production activities and import-export plans to provide appropriate support solutions, and accompanies the recovery and development of production and business of enterprises, Tuan said.

Although the customs checkpoint for import and export goods at Thanh Phuoc port has been in operation since June 2024, it has brought many practical benefits to enterprises. Enterprises can carry out customs procedures and receive goods at the port.

The branch has quickly performed customs clearance for imported, exported and in-transit goods at Thanh Phuoc port, saving time and costs for enterprises.

As of October, the branch has processed import-export procedures for goods at Thanh Phuoc port for 35 enterprises with a total of 650 declarations. Total import-export turnover reached US$13.6 million, and tax revenue gained over VND26 billion.

It is forecasted that from now until the end of 2024, import-export activities will surge to serve the Christmas and Tet seasons, so branch will allocate resources to quickly handle procedures, preventing congestion in import-export activities.

Along with facilitating import-export activities, the Branch has planned to deploy solutions to grasp the situation and manage the area. The will develop a coordination regulation with competent agencies and units to patrol and control the area effectively.

The branch has enhanced effectiveness of mobile container scanners, and combated trade fraud in the area.

Especially, in the context that Vietnam has signed many preferential tariff agreements with the EU, the US, …, goods originating from Vietnam will enjoy preferential tariffs.

Some businesses may take advantage of the incentive policy to import finished products or semi-finished products from abroad to Vietnam, then export them with Vietnamese labels and origins for export. This reduces the competitiveness of Vietnamese-made goods.

To strengthen control and combat commercial fraud, the branch has developed a plan to prevent illegal transportation of goods and fraud in the origin of goods...
