Of this, exports accounted for over US$1.4 billion, a substantial 184% rise, with taxable turnover reaching over US$24 million, comprising 1.7% of total exports. Key export items included dragon fruit, bananas, cassava, various woods, lychees, and durians.

Import turnover reached US$633 million, a 60% increase, with taxable imports nearing US$319 million, or 50.4% of total imports. Primary imported goods included agricultural products (such as vegetables and fruits), chemicals, fertilizers, plastics, plastic products, confectionery, plywood, machinery, and mechanical equipment.

Notably, 712 companies are now participating in import-export activities through the Lao Cai Customs Branch, an increase of 109 businesses compared to the same period last year.

Leaders from Lao Cai Customs Branch emphasized that to facilitate trade and attract businesses, the branch has strictly adhered to the Customs Law, the amended Tax Administration Law, the Foreign Trade Management Law, and the new Tax Administration Law.

The branch has kept pace with evolving legal frameworks in line with international economic integration, aiming to streamline trade activities and boost socio-economic development.

Furthermore, the application of preferential tax policies under tax reduction schedules with Vietnam’s most-favored nations has fostered an enabling environment for businesses, supporting economic growth and boosting tax revenues.

Lao Cai Customs has prioritized administrative reform and customs modernization, particularly by assisting businesses in navigating new regulations. This support has helped companies comply with legal requirements, adhere to policies, and expedite the customs clearance process efficiently.
