Quang Nam Customs facilitates trade and increases revenue

Quickly clearing raw materials for production

Ky Ha Seaport Customs Branch has processed customs clearance for dozens of import and export shipments of goods across Chu Lai port, the branch has implemented many solutions to allocate human resources to support and facilitate businesses.

Nguyen Van Duong, Manager of the Ky Ha Seaport Customs Branch (Quang Nam Customs Department) said that goods processed across the branch are mainly raw materials serving the production of enterprises, such as components, auto components, raw materials for garments, leather shoes, raw chip components for electronic chip production, etc.

Therefore, the branch always provides maximum support, ensuring quick customs clearance of imported raw materials for enterprises to promptly put into production and business.

The manager said that the branch’s revenue mainly comes from auto components and parts imported by companies under Truong Hai Auto Corporation. As October 31, the revenue from these companies reached over VND5,143 billion and refunded taxes worth VND2,324 billion.

As of October 31, the actual revenue gained over VND2,819 billion, up 40.43% year-on-year.

According to the branch, the increase in revenue results from the high people's shopping demand, the reduction of registration tax on domestically produced cars has stimulated consumption.

The Customs has facilitated customs clearance and tax refund to support enterprises in production and business activities.

In addition to the good growth rate of container goods, the output of bulk goods exported (pellets, wood chips, minerals, etc.) across Chu Lai port surges in October 2024, up more than 25% compared to the previous month.

Quang Nam Customs Department said that the volume of imports and exports gone through customs procedures in the province has increased significantly.

In October, the department has implemented customs clearance for goods of 12,574 declarations with total turnover of over US$402 million, up 22.4% over the same period last year.

Of which, imports reached about 28%, with a total turnover of US$242.91 million.

In the first 10 months of 2024, the department cleared 124,392 declarations, up 20.57%; the total turnover reached about US$3.9 billion, up 22.86% year-on-year.

The export turnover increased by 17.41% to US$1.7 billion; import turnover rose 27.53% to US$ 2.2 billion. The department processed entry procedures for 282 ships, up 33.6% and 91,417 land vehicles, up 391% over the same period.

The State revenue exceeded the plan

According to Deputy Director of Quang Nam Customs Department Tran Ngoc Duc, the positive import and export activities in the area have the contribution of the Customs in reforming administrative procedures, creating favorable conditions for production and business enterprises.

Quang Nam Customs Department regularly provides information to customs declarants, implements measures to support enterprises in customs processes.

At the same time, the department organizes dialogues with enterprises periodically and developed Customs - Businesses partnerships.

Motivated effective solutions, by the end of October, Quang Nam Customs Department exceeded the target, reaching more than VND6,079 billion, and refunded taxes worth VND2,353 billion. As of October 31, the actual revenue of the department recorded VND3,726 billion, increasing by more than 69% year-on-year, reaching more than 106% of the target.

Therefore, the survey results on the level of satisfaction with the implementation of customs procedures over the years show that the majority of enterprises highly appreciate the great efforts in improving the quality of administration and operation of Quang Nam Customs Department.

Recently, with the goal of continuing to improve service quality, enhance satisfaction and benefits of people and businesses as committed, the Department has conducted a survey of the business community on the level of satisfaction with the implementation of customs procedures in 2024.

Additionally, the department has focused on directing and taking measures to control, monitor risky area and subjects to effectively combat smuggling, trade fraud and illegal transportation of goods across the border gate.

In ten months of 2024, the department detected 130 customs offences, of which many cases of illegal transportation of drugs and firecrackers were detected in time.

Quang Nam Customs has also effectively implemented solutions to prevent tax losses, recover outstanding debts, and control taxes on imports and exports under the guidance of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, contributing to collecting correctly and sufficiently, promptly overcoming limitations in tax management. Through post-clearance audit, the department has increased revenue for the State budget by about VND4 billion...

According to Deputy Director Tran Ngoc Duc, in the last months of the year, the department continues to focus on solutions to facilitate trade. The allocates resources, builds and effectively implements the “Plan to reform, develop and modernize Quang Nam Customs Department until 2025” and the detailed plan to implement key reform, development and modernization activities in 2024 to better serve import and export activities and maintain revenue sources.

The department focuses on management supervision, risk management, anti-smuggling and trade fraud prevention... to achieve the highest state revenue.
