VCN - The General Department of Vietnam Customs has taken a decisive step toward transforming Vietnam's customs sector with the establishment of the Customs Reform and Modernization Steering Committee. The newly formed body is tasked with crafting strategies and guiding the sector's short-, medium-, and long-term reform and modernization efforts.

On November 20, 2024, Director General Nguyen Van Tho issued Decision No. 2696/QĐ-TCHQ, officially establishing the Steering Committee on Customs Reform and Modernization.

The Director General will serve as the committee's Director, with Deputy Directors General acting as Deputy Directors. Additionally, the Director of the Customs Reform and Modernization Board will take on the role of Secretary.

The Steering Committee will play a central role in ensuring the alignment and execution of reform efforts across the customs sector. Its key responsibilities include developing comprehensive strategies and detailed plans to drive reform and modernization over short-, medium-, and long-term horizons; overseeing the execution of modernization initiatives and ensuring that the customs sector meets its reform goals.
