Summary of Project A724p: Effectiveness from coordination work

Department of Drug Prevention and Crime of the Border Guard (Border Guard Command, Ministry of National Defense) and the Department of Drug Crime Investigation (Ministry of Public Security) co-chaired and coordinated with the Department of Professional Affairs and Law (Vietnam Coast Guard Command, Ministry of National Defense) and the Department of Anti-Smuggling Investigation (General Department of Customs, Ministry of Finance) to successfully destroyed Project A724p, eliminating the drug trafficking and illegal transportation ring from abroad into Vietnam.

Summarizing Project A724p, the agencies arrested 10 criminals, seized 211 kg of various drugs and some related documents in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces. During the investigation, the agencies ensured absolute safety of people, weapons, and equipment.

As a result of the investigation, the investigation force captured all the suspects and seized a large amount of evidence. Thereby, affirming the timely and close leadership and direction of the Heads of the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, the Heads of the Border Guard Command, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, and the General Department of Customs in the fight against crime, especially drug crimes.

The project has achieved all three requirements of politics, profession and law; has eliminated the illegal drug trafficking gangs in large quantities, across the country, from the border to inland provinces and cities.

This is a breakthrough in professional work, synchronous use of professional measures, application of continuous reconnaissance measures; the coordination among drug prevention and control forces is extremely effective.

Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of Steering Committee 1389 of the Ministry of National Defense highly appreciated the achievements and feats, and acknowledged the efforts and commended the spirit of actively attacking crimes of the specialized agencies in charge of drug crime prevention and control and the officers and soldiers directly participating in the fight against the project.

To prevent drugs from being smuggled into Vietnam more effectively and thoroughly, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong suggested that the specialized agencies in charge of drug crime prevention and control under the four forces need to coordinate and cooperate closely in carrying out the common task of preventing and combating crimes and ensuring social order and safety.

At the same time, promote the advisory role in consolidating the grassroots political system, promote the strength of the entire people and the entire political system to participate in the fight against crimes and drug abuse in border areas, border gates, sea areas and inland areas.

Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong also suggested that the forces regularly coordinate to organize periodic meetings, promptly exchange professional information on drug crimes so that the forces can be proactive in prevention, suppression or establish joint projects.

Regarding Project A724p, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong suggested that specialized forces should continue to promote coordination and deploy forces to fight the next phase of the project to ensure a complete fight against drug crimes.

At the conference, the Organizing Committee announced the Prime Minister's Letter of Commendation to the following units: the Department of Drug Prevention and Crime of the Border Guard, the Department of Drug Crime Investigation, the Department of Professional Affairs and Law, and the Department of Anti-Smuggling Investigation for their achievements in organizing the fight and successfully destroying Project A724p.

In addition, recognizing the achievements of collectives and individuals in the fight and destruction of the project, the Minister of National Defense; Steering Committee 1389 of the Ministry of National Defense, the Border Guard Command and the Ministry of Public Security issued decisions to commend units that had achievements in fighting and destroying Project A724p.
