Tinh Bien Customs Branch to be awarded for seizure of 100 million riel and 8 kg of gold

VCN- The Director General of Vietnam Customs, Mr. Nguyen Van Can has recently issued a decision to award the Customs Branch of Tinh Bien border gate under the An Giang Customs Department for arresting a perpetrator who illegally transported 100 million riel (Cambodian currency) and 8 kg of gold from the Cambodian border to Vietnam, worth about 7.673 billion vnd.

It is reported that on the morning of 11th March 2017, the Customs Branch of Tinh Bien border gate detected and arrested Ms. Vuoch Hea, born in 1957, (Cambodian nationality) who illegally transported 100 million riel and 8kg of gold through the border gate without Customs declaration.

Ms. Vuoch Hea claimed that the money as mentioned above was for purchase of groceries at the border. The amount of gold which Ms. Vuoch Hea carried from Nam Vang – a Cambodian market to Tinh Bien was to illegally make profit. Then, the Customs Branch of Tinh Bien border gate examined these exhibits and confirmed that the value of gold and money were worth 7.6 billion vnd.

Accordingly, the Manager of the Customs Branch of Tinh Bien border gate, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Ho has signed the Decision No. 221 / QD-HQTB to prosecute this case.
