Tax refund for foreigners on exit increased by nearly 50%

A Customs officer of Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch consults VAT refund procedure for foreigners on exit.

Therefore, the number of foreign passengers who have been refunded and the amount of tax refund increased by 48% and 42% respectively compared to the same period of 2016.

The items which were bought by foreigner passengers were mainly fashion goods such as: Glasses, cosmetics, bags, clothes, shoes, watches and mobile phones and etc.

Application of new tax refund, tax exemption and tax reduction procedures

To avoid that passengers fraudulently exchange goods when implementing the tax refund, the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch recommends that duty-free shops should seal the goods (by using clear nylon bags), then give passengers to present to Customs to inspect seal and code of goods. Hence, the tax refund will be implemented more quickly and goods will not be fraudulently exchanged.
