Operations at Lao Bao border gate Customs Branch on April 28

According to Official Letter No. 1546 / UBND-VX of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province on urgent measures to prevent and fight against the Covid-19 pandemic on the Vietnam-Laos border, the “one-stop-shop” inspection model at the Dansavan-Lao Bao international border checkpoint is suspended from 0:00 on April 27(according to Official Letter No. 2618 / VPCP-QHQT dated April 15, 2021 of the Office of the Government)

On January 5, 2015, Lao Bao border Gate Customs (Vietnam) worked with Dansavanh Customs (Laos) to launch the “one-stop-shop” inspection model, with the participation of agencies of the two countries at the border checkpoint. On February 6, 2015, this model officially went into operation.

The inspection model has four steps, including: Customs agencies of the two countries together conduct physical inspection at shared inspection area; Customs agencies of the two countries together carry out customs procedures and customs inspection at the shared inspection area; Customs, quarantine and health agencies of the two countries together implement procedures and inspection at the shared inspection area; Customs, quarantine, health and immigration agencies of the two countries together implement border procedures at the common inspection area

The economic zone’s management board (the Border Gate Management Board) is assigned to temporarily arrange work for forces at Lao Bao international border gate according to Decree 112/2014 / ND-CP dated November 11, 21 of the Government on the management of land border gates.

The director of the Quang Tri Customs Department Bui Thanh San said the unit instructed the Lao Bao Border Gate Customs Branch to suspend the “one-stop-shop” model at the Dansavan-Lao Bao international border checkpoint (according to Official Letter No. 1546 / UBND-VX dated April 26of the People's Committee of Quang Tri Province); proactively assign work to cadres, civil servants and employees according to job positions; notify and support enterprises, and facilitate import, export, and entry, exit and transit activities amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The leader of the Lao Bao border gate Customs Branch said following the above policy, the branch has sent a notice of suspension to businesses which engage import and export activities through the area.

On April 27 and morning of April 28, State management on customs, as well as goods import and export activities through the area, took place normally without disturbance.
