Smuggled goods transported from the Southwest border to HCM City
According to HCM City Market Surveillance Department, the across-border smuggling and illegal transportation of goods still take place complicatedly by many sophisticated tricks. According to statistics, in the first seven months of the year, the department inspected 2,000 violations, an increase of 1,162 cases compared with the same period of the year.
Notably, the counterfeit goods, smuggled goods, banned goods, low-quality goods and unknown origin goods have been widely sold on e-ecommerce environment. This situation on traditional market has not yet prevented.
The volume of infringing goods that have been shipped from the Southwest border to the market and stored at warehouses in the last month of the year surges.
Responding to this situation, in the last months of the year, HCM City Market Surveillance will follow plans and directions of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnam Directorate of Market Surveillance and HCM City People's Committee; direct Market Surveillance Teams to strengthen coordination with local government agencies, police and other competent forces to strictly control and supervise targeted areas, inter-provincial roads, national highways and warehouses and storages to detect and handle violations; focus on inspecting and handling violations related to targeted commodity groups, product origin and quality and e-commerce.
Strictly handle violations
According to the leader of HCM City Market Surveillance Department, the departed has coordinated with other law enforcement agencies to identify and handle cases of trafficking smuggled and fake goods.
Recently, on September 15, the department destroyed about 21,500 infringing goods with value of over VND1 billion.
At Thien Thanh Environment Joint Stock Company Branch - Vinh Tan Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant, address at Hamlet 4, Vinh Tan Commune, Vinh Cuu District, Dong Nai Province, Market Surveillance Team No. 2 (HCM City Market Surveillance Department) has coordinated with Dong A Service Joint Stock Company to implement 25 decisions on sanctioning administrative violations issued by the Director of HCM City Market Department and the Head of Market Surveillance Team No. 2 to enforce destruction of 7,512 products including smuggled and unknown origin camouflage patterned clothes, fashion clothes, footwear, pharmaceuticals, medicine, food, motorbike parts; and fake clothes.
On the same day, the Team supervised the implementation of remedial measures to enforce destruction of 3,886 infringing products under 16 Decisions on sanctioning administrative violations. Infringing goods are hats, footwear, clothes, bags, animal feed, cosmetics, electronic cigarettes, food... which are fake products of Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Nike, Dior, Porsche, Burberry, Adidas…

On September 14, at Saigon Urban Environment Company, located at Vinh Tan commune, Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province, Market Surveillance Team No. 9 also supervised the destruction for 7,800 infringing products under 38 Decisions on sanctioning administrative violations.
Among 7,800 of destroyed infringing products, 3,894 products were smuggled cosmetics, children's toys, and foods; 2,951 products are unknown origin goods; 955 products are fake Chanel, Nike, Louis Vuitton… handbags, sandals, eyeglass frames, and clothing of all kinds.
HCM City Market Surveillance Department has inspected and destroyed hundreds of smuggled moon cakes sold on the market.
