HCM City Tax Department has proposed HCM City Customs Department to coordinate in applying enforcement measures to suspend customs procedures to recover debts for cases with large tax debts ranging from several billion to thousands of billions of VND.

Most of tax debtors have been enforced by the Investment/ Processing Customs Branch.

As a result, after the enforcement, many high-tax debtors have paid tax debts to the state budget.

Talking about the enforcement by suspending customs procedures for imports and exports of enterprises with domestic tax debt, Manager of Investment/Processing Customs Branch Le Tuan Binh said that the branch has implemented the coordination regulations between HCM City Customs Department and HCM City Tax Department since May 2021.

Accordingly, when overdue tax debts arise, the city’s Tax department will send an official dispatch to the Customs requesting tax debt enforcement for each tax debtor.

The Customs will base on the official dispatches of the Tax man to issue a decision to enforce suspending the import and export of enterprises.

According to Binh, through applying enforcement measures, the tax debt collection has achieved positive results, and many tax debtors have paid taxes.

As of October 25, the branch has issued over 180 decisions to suspend the import and export of tax debtors, with total tax amount of over VND6,225 billion.

Among them, there are high-tax debtors have been enforced such as: Xuyen Viet Oil Travel and Transport Trading Company Limited (address: No. 465-467 Hai Ba Trung, Ward 8, District 3, HCM City), with a debt of over VND1,739 billion;

According to the Investment/Processing Customs Branch, during the cooperation with HCM Tax Department in implementing enforcement decisions, in addition to positive results, the Customs discovered some shortcomings.
