Several cases of loss of account password in VNACCS system

Recently, Cuong Thinh Trade and Industrial Equipment Co. Ltd (Hanoi) issued an Official Dispatch to request the General Department of Vietnam to issue an account password which the company lost to access VNACCS for the management of the enterprise’s information.

However, this was not only one case. On 16th December 2016, speaking to a reporter of the Customs Newspaper, the Deputy Director of the Center on management and operation of IT system (the IT and Customs Statistics Department, under the General Department of Vietnam Customs), Mr. Pham Thanh Trung said: “Every month, we receive thousands of such proposals”.

According to Mr. Pham Thanh Trung, the reason why many businesses have lost their account password is that they have not focused on account management in VNACCS system. Accordingly, enterprises’ account and password are often assigned for import and export staff, and Customs agents to use. Therefore, when they transfer their working position or go to work abroad, they often do not hand over the password or even forget the password, which has led to a series of cases involving loss of account password.

In the case where enterprises have lost or forgotten their account password, they should immediately send an Official Dispatch to the General Department of Vietnam Customs to request a new password (the Center on management and operation of IT system) and also enclose a notarized copy of the certificate of business registration; identity card or passport of legal representatives.

According to Mr. Pham Thanh Trung, the accounts in VNACCS system help enterprises gather and manage information, without affecting the operations of Customs declaration. Therefore, in the case where enterprises have lost or forgotten password, they still implement Customs declarations as usual.

However, in order to keep confidentiality of information, enterprises need to manage their accounts in the VNACCS system carefully.
