On April 12, the Legal Department of the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) held a meeting with other departments to agree on the implementation plan and draft report on reviewing the enforcement of the Customs Law 2014.
The Customs Law 2014 was approved by the 13th National Assembly at the 7th session and took effect on January 1, 2015.
The Customs Law 2014 replaced Customs Law 2001 and the Law amending and supplementing some articles of the Customs Law 2005.
According to the Department, the 2014 Customs Law plays a key role in customs reform and modernization, creating a legal framework to implement the Customs Development Strategy, Financial Development Strategy, and meeting the requirements of deep integration in the new period.
The Customs Law is an important legal document, covering all customs operation and is the basis for building a legal document system in the customs area.
The draft report on reviewing the enforcement of Customs Law 2014 includes an assessment of general and specific results.
The assessment of specific results will include contents such as the development of a legal document system; assessment of regulations of Customs Law with international treaties related to the customs field to which Vietnam is a contracting party; customs procedures for import and export goods; post-clearance audit; anti-smuggling; and risk management.
