According to Nghe An Customs Department, over the past two years, Nghe An has been an attractive, safe and effective investment destination for investors, especially FDI investors. In 2022, Nghe An was listed of the top localities attracting the largest FDI in the country, with a total newly allocated and adjusted capital of US$939.45 million.

In the first six months of the year, Nghe An has been home to 8 FDI projects with capital pledges totaling about US$ 613.8 million, and total newly allocated and adjusted capital of US$ 725.4 million, and ranked 8 of 63 provinces and cities.

Accordingly, Nghe An has been home to many famous investors in the world in the field of electronic equipment production and high-tech application to invest in projects such as Goertek (China) investing US$ 500 million, Ju Teng (Taiwa) at US$200 million, Everwin (Hong Kong) at US$200 million and Luxshare ICT (China) at US$140 million.

Statistics show that more than 100 FDI enterprises have invested in import and export activities, accounting for about 30-35% of the export turnover of the province, and contributing to economic restructuring, promoting growth, increasing budget revenue, and creating jobs for thousands of workers.

These achievements have resulted from the trade facilitation by the Customs to promote the province's investment attraction in recent years. Nghe An Customs Department has made great efforts to provide solutions for quick customs clearance; removed problems of enterprises and residents in customs procedures and shared difficulties for enterprises in the development of import and export activities by directly contacting and e-mail.

Through the conference on FDI enterprises dialogue 2023, Nghe An Customs Department wishes to discuss to have a common opinion with the business community, especially FDI enterprises that have invested in Nghe An province.

At the conference, the department disseminated new and revised customs regulations in 2023.

At the conference, Nghe An Customs recorded feedback from representatives of FDI enterprises and associations on management and policies. Enterprises frankly mentioned problems related to customs procedures and gave effective and practical ideas on the management of import and export activities. The enterprises proposed the Customs to research and develop logistics services, reduce costs, and time and facilitate enterprises in customs clearance.

Many enterprises also expected that the Customs would review and check the tax-exempt list and product policies to advise central and local government agencies in implementing key projects, and large projects, contributing to promoting investment activities of the province. Enterprises also discussed the handling of temporarily imported goods for re-export and wished that the Customs sector would provide instruction in detail in the field.

The representatives said that the department would review and support enterprises by flexible methods, and actively provide information related to customs law, procedures and processes for customs clearance.

The representative of Nghe An Customs Department answered and instructed questions from enterprises. In the near future, the department would review legal documents and remove obstacles or propose competent authorities to revise inappropriate regulations, helping enterprises overcome difficulties.

Director of Nghe An Customs Department Chu Quang Hai said that Nghe An Customs would promote customs reform and digital transformation. Accordingly, motivated by the plan of digital transformation of the Customs sector by 2025, orientation to 2030, Nghe An Customs would provide solutions and change operational processes by applying information technology software for maximum efficiency. The department would also improve the efficiency and quality of customs control as well as support businesses, reduce costs and time, boosting the business and export production.

Statistics from Nghe An Customs Department show that, in the first seven months of the year, 237 businesses registered to carry out customs procedures across the area with 5,251 declarations, up 26% year-on-year. The total import and export turnover reached US$1.8 billion. As of June 31, the department collected and remitted VND627 billion, meeting 51% of the revenue target.

Notably, among 237 enterprises carrying out customs procedures, over 100 FDI enterprises implementing import and export activities across Nghe An province.
