According to Lao Cai Customs Department, by the end of July, the unit recorded a trade turnover of US$ 776 million, down 17% year-on-year, or US$149 million. In which, exports reached US$520.2 million and imports US$255.8 million.
Main export items: yellow phosphorus, peeled wood, tapioca starch, confectionery...; Major imports: fertilizers, coke, clothing, confectionery...
Regarding state budget revenue, by the end of July, the whole department collected VND525.04 billion, reaching 35% of the target assigned by the Ministry of Finance (VND1,500 billion), reaching 22.3% of the target assigned by the Lao Cai Provincial People's Council, down 47% over the same period in 2022 (equivalent to nearly VND470 billion).

The sharp decrease in revenue of Lao Cai Customs compared to the same period last year is due to main reasons such as production and business activities of enterprises in the country as well as in the locality of Lao Cai province faced many difficulties, such as the orders decrease; bank interest rates increase; the Chinese border gate agencies have strengthened management measures, tightened control at the secondary border gates, increased tax rates, and directly affecting the import and export activities through border gates in Lao Cai province.
