Lao Cai Customs handled 152 customs offences

A representative of the Lao Cai Customs Department said that since the beginning of the year, the department has closely followed the directions of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance, the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province and the Steering Committee 389 at all levels, to effectively perform assigned tasks related to combating smuggling, counterfeit goods, trade fraud and illegal transportation of goods across the border.
The department has strengthened information collection and analysis to serve the fight against smuggling of the customs control force, gathered and assessed information related to customs operations and taken measures on customs control to detect and prevent customs offences effectively.
The department has coordinated with authorities of the Police, Border Guard, Market Surveillance, Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department and local authorities on smuggling and illegal transportation of goods, drugs and drug precursors across the key border and areas.
As of November 20, the department handled 152 violations with a total value of infringing goods of VND 362 million and fined VND555.9 million.
On January 18, at Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park, Lao Cai ward, Lao Cai city, the Customs Enforcement Team and Lao Cai International Railway Station Customs Branch temporarily seized 38 cartons and 50 Fresh cakes inside each carton.
The working group has made a record and brought all the goods to the headquarters of the Customs Control Team. According to the law, the value of infringing goods is estimated at VND 45 million.
On September 21, at a yard in Lao Cai station, Lao Cai ward, Lao Cai city, the working team under Lao Cai International Railway Station Customs Branch seized about 300 kg of confectionery and toys with foreign labels with unknown owners.
