On February 17, the leader of Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch said almost 281 enterprises in January implemented import and export procedures at the branch with 4,162 declarations and US$106 million in trade turnover including US$48 million in imports and US$58 million in exports.
Notably, four main groups of agricultural products for export including 10,367 tons of dragon fruit; 23,538 tons of watermelon; 39,316 tons of cassava of all kinds and 4,824 tons of bananas went through customs clearance at the customs branch in January.
Previously, in 2021, Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch carried out customs clearance procedures for nearly 400,000 tons of dragon fruit, nearly 80,000 tons of watermelons, nearly 70,000 tons of bananas and more than 106,000 tons of cassava of all kinds.

However, since the end of 2021, due to China's strict disease control policy, the export of goods at the branch and important border gates at the northern border has plunged.
