Lao Cai Customs clears 454 durian trucks during 4-day holiday

On September 4, 2024, in an interview with reporters, Deputy Manager of Lao Cai Border Gate Customs Branch Pham Van Phuc informed that during the 2024 National Day holiday, the unit had proactively implemented plans to ensure smooth customs clearance procedures for import and export goods.
During the 4-day holiday, Lao Cai Border Gate Customs Branch cleared 2,090 import and export cargo vehicles. Of which, 637 vehicles were for export, with 454 vehicles carrying durian; 1,453 vehicles were for import, mainly agricultural products.
According to an update from Lao Cai Border Gate Customs Branch, from the beginning of the year to August 23, the total import and export turnover through the Branch reached over US$1.56 billion, up 144% compared to the same period in 2023.
Of which, export turnover was over US$1.1 billion, a growth of 208%; import turnover was nearly US$ 452 million, a rise of 61%. Major export items included durian, various types of sawn timber, dragon fruit, cassava, green bananas, footwear, etc.; major import items included agricultural products, confectionery, fertilizers, chemicals, coke, electricity, etc.
In terms of state budget revenue, the Branch's revenue reached VND548 billion, reaching 84.3% of the annual target assigned by Lao Cai Customs Department and increasing nearly VND207 billion compared to the same period last year.
