On 6th December 2018, at Cat Lai Port, Sai Gon Seaport Customs Branch of Zone 1 coordinated with the Customs Enforcement Team under Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, Border Guard of Nha Rong Port, and the representatives of shipping lines and etc to inspect all 20 imported goods containers sent to the consignee that is Tri Quang Transportation Services Trading Limited Liability Company (locating in 60 Nguyen Van Giap, Binh Trung Dong Ward, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City).

Inspecting each container, the Customs authority detected that goods inside the container were scraps.

At the site, we realized that goods were sophisticatedly hidden in these containers. The used machinery such as water meter, water pump … were put outside the goods but inside were scraps such as electric wire, plastic bags and scrap iron…

According to the Customs, the imported shipment includes 25 containers, the consignee that is Tri Quang Transportation Services Trading Limited Liability Company. Previously, at the end of October 2018, this company registered Custom declaration to import 5 containers of machinery from Japan to Cat Lai Port- Ho Chi Minh City.

Through the dossier investigation, Sai Gon Seaport Customs Branch of Zone 1 realized suspicious signs and scanned the shipment; the image showed that the goods inside these containers were scraps.

Inspecting all 5 containers that were registered Customs declaration, Sai Gon Seaport Customs Branch of Zone 1 detected electronic scrap, plastic scrap…inside these containers.

After being detected and seized goods, Tri Quang Transportation Services Trading Limited Liability Company has not yet registered Customs declaration for the remaining 20 containers and vacated its business registration address.

Currently, Sai Gon Seaport Customs Branch of Zone 1 has continuously inspected these 20 containers of scraps.
