Three-year drug bust nets over 23 tons

According to the Drug-related Crime Investigation Police Department (C04) under the Ministry of Public Security, over the past three years of implementing drug prevention and control program in the period of 2021-2025, various ministries, agencies, and localities have intensified the communication on drug prevention. These initiatives have employed diverse methods and content, with a particular focus on high-risk areas and vulnerable groups.

As a result, there has been a notable increase in public awareness and engagement in drug prevention efforts at all levels of government.

Furthermore, the specialized forces tasked with combating drug-related crimes have launched vigorous campaigns, characterized by close inter-agency cooperation and deep, effective international collaboration. This concerted effort has yielded impressive results.

Specifically, the Ministry of Public Security has investigated and arrested 76,614 cases, involving 115,815 individuals and seizing over 12,715 kilograms of various drugs (with a noticeable upward trend in the number of cases, suspects, and seized narcotics over the years).

The Ministry of Defense has detected and investigated 3,688 cases, arresting 5,107 individuals and seizing over 5,457 kilograms of drugs.

The Ministry of Finance (through the Customs force) has detected and arrested 808 cases, involving 804 individuals and seizing over 5,610 kilograms of drugs.

In total, law enforcement agencies have seized a staggering 23,782 kilograms of various drugs over the past three years.

Concurrently, the management of drug users and abusers has been implemented comprehensively from the central to the grassroots levels.

The Ministry of Public Security has directed local police forces to conduct thorough reviews, compile statistics, and create lists of drug users, addicts, and post-rehabilitation individuals, starting at the commune level, to ensure strict management.
