HCM City Customs detect over 20 cases of smuggling and tax evasion

According to the HCM City Customs Department, in the first nine months of 2024, the Customs Department detected, seized, and handled 1,678 violations with an estimated value of goods involved of over VND 4,011 billion.

Of these, there were 14 smuggling cases; 23 cases of trading and transporting prohibited goods; 9 tax evasion cases, and 1,632 other administrative violations.

The HCM City Customs Department imposed administrative penalties on 1,675 cases, with a total amount of state budget recovered exceeding VND 30 billion.

Specifically, for the handling of violations under the authority of the Director, the HCM City Customs Department has received and resolved 30 dossiers of violations with an estimated value of goods involved of VND 346.95 billion, and accordingly, issued 26 Decisions on imposing administrative penalties with a total amount of administrative fines and recovered state budget of VND 4.88 billion.

Notably, in the first nine months of 2024, the HCM City Customs Department initiated one criminal case and transferred 44 violation cases to other agencies for prosecution
