HCM City Customs removes obstacles and facilitates FDI enterprises

From April 17 to April 19, the Investment Customs Branch and representatives of advisory divisions of the HCM City Customs Department worked with several FDI enterprises in HCM City to grasp the operation of the enterprise in the first months of the year and solve problems for the enterprise if any arise.

Welcoming Customs officers who came to work, representatives of FDI enterprises said that they were very touched when the Investment Department of Customs came to visit and worked with the company at the right time when the company was preparing to launch many new programs and projects related to the import of goods. Therefore, the company was looking forward to the support and guidance of Customs soon.

FDI enterprises also said that their companies faced many difficulties during the two years affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, with the support of the Vietnamese Government and agencies, especially the Customs, in supporting businesses to maintain import-export activities, the company's production and business activities recovered quickly. From 2021 up to now, production activities have grown tremendously. Some enterprises intended to expand their investment in Vietnam.

The above results are largely thanks to the support of HCM City Customs Department in general, and the Investment Customs Branch in particular in importing equipment and products into Vietnam.

At the meeting, the Manager of the Investment Customs Branch, Le Tuan Binh, highly appreciated the law compliance and the contribution to the state budget of FDI enterprises. Mr Binh said that many FDI enterprises have obeyed customs law. From 2016 until now, the company has never been handled for violating customs law. Every year, those companies were always rewarded by HCM City Customs Department at the Conference to honor good taxpayers organized by the Department.

At the working session, the representative of some enterprises presented some problems related to participating in the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program, the field of specialized inspection, the import of new products, machinery and equipment for manufacturing, tax refund... The branch of CALOFIC Co., Ltd in Hiep Phuoc, HCM City discussed the issue of importing products for Vietnamese market but then exporting a part of the products, C/O form D for enjoying special preferential tariff rates, refunding overpaid customs fees, participating in the law compliance program, register for intellectual property protection with the Customs authority... Those opinions were guided and answered by the leaders of the Investment Customs Branch and the representative of the functional division of HCM City Customs Department.

To facilitate the import and export of goods, some FDI enterprises said that they wished to participate and be recognized as an AEO. Head of Risk Management Division - HCM City Customs Department Tran Ba Tung and leaders of the Investment Customs Branch explained and gave specific instructions to enterprises about the AEO program. At the same time, introducing to enterprises the pilot program to support and encourage enterprises to voluntarily comply with customs law under Decision No. 1399/QD-TCHQ dated July 15, 2022, of the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Recording several business recommendations, the Manager of the Investment Customs Branch, Le Tuan Binh said that regarding business problems that are beyond the branch's authority, as well as problems outside the field of management of the Customs, the unit would report to competent authorities for consideration. At the same time, Mr. Binh affirmed that the Customs authority was always a partner in accompanying and supporting the development of enterprises.
