HCM City Customs to benefit from Korean Customs' digital transformation expertise

On the afternoon of October 17, 2024, Mr. Do Thanh Quang, Deputy Director of HCM City Customs Department, chaired a working session with the Korean Customs Delegation led by Mr. Kim Jae-Chul, representative of Seoul Customs.

The meeting aimed to exchange information on the application of information technology, digital transformation, and to address challenges related to customs clearance for chemicals and origin of goods.

At the meeting, representatives from both sides emphasized the good relationship between the two countries and highlighted that since the two countries became comprehensive strategic partners, bilateral trade has continuously grown. To further promote trade, both sides need the support and facilitation of customs authorities, especially HCM City Customs and Seoul Customs, in addressing current challenges related to information technology and product origin.

After listening to the discussions, Deputy Director Do Thanh Quang acknowledged the difficulties related to information technology and product origin. He committed to making efforts to resolve issues within the authority of HCM City Customs and would report to the General Department of Vietnam Customs for guidance on matters beyond his authority.

The leadership of HCM City Customs also expressed their desire for Seoul Customs to cooperate directly through information technology channels to quickly resolve urgent issues and timely share customs intelligence to serve the professional operations of each side.

In addition to the above issues, Mr. You Byung Ha, Korean Customs Counselor, stated that HCM City Customs is in the process of promoting digital transformation, and Korean Customs is ready to share experiences to help HCM City Customs achieve this goal.

Deputy Director Do Thanh Quang expressed his gratitude for the sincere support and sharing from Korean Customs and expressed his desire to have the opportunity to visit and learn from Korean Customs experiences in the future
