In nearly eight months, the department collected tariffs on import and exports worth US$3,500 million, up 95.1% compared with the previous year.
However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the department’s revenue only hit US$502.5 million, a month-on- month decrease of 5.8%.
In the year to now, the department has inspected 59,411 vehicles on exit and entry.
The increase in revenue is due to the rise in volume of coal and ore imported by Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. In addition, the imports of redbull, cassava flour, plywood, and electronic products also jumped. Deputy Manager of Ha Tinh Customs Department Dinh Van Hoa told Customs News.
The rocketing revenue is thanks to the strong development of province's economy, especially, Vung Ang Economic Zone and Cau Treo International Border Gate Economic Zone. In addition, a large amount of equipment, machinery and materials was imported by investors to build and create fixed assets.
The local customs department has also reformed administrative procedures and implemented the e-customs clearance system to support for import and export activities.
