Ha Noi Customs decides to criminally prosecute three cases and proposes to prosecute two cases

VCN- In the first six months of the year, Ha Noi Customs Department has taken the initiative in combating smuggling, trade fraud and preventing drugs. As a result, many violations have been detected and handled promptly, especially smuggling cases during the peak period of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Specifically, Ha Noi Customs Department handled 673 customs offences, with fines of VND97.18 billion and tax arrears of VND2 billion.

Notably, the department has handled 11 smuggling cases and decided to prosecute three smuggling cases and proposed to prosecute two cases.

Ha Noi Customs Department has developed and implemented a special plan No. EM620, and coordinated with the Police authority in handling five cases of illegal transportation of drugs and arresting six suspects.

It seized 43,000 MDMA tablets, 393.34 grams of ketamine, and 931.08 grams of Vitamin Ceffervescent tablets suspected of being drugs with total weight of 20,021.97 grams.

According to Ha Noi Customs Department, it has drastically directed customs units to implement the prevention of smuggling, drugs and trade fraud in areas such Noi Bai Airport, Express Delivery; and coordinated with competent authorities to prevent and handlesmuggling and illegal transportation of goods across borders.

It has also strengthened inspection, supervision and control of fresh food products that are of unknown origin and unsafe; prevention of smuggling, trade fraud for wildlife products, medical equipment, used electronic items, and cigars.
