Da Nang: taxable goods records strong growth

Budget revenue rises by 12.5%

In 2022, Da Nang Customs Department is assigned a revenue target of VND4,500 billion.

Da Nang Customs Department has offered solutions to on pandemic prevention and macroeconomic development and implemented National Assembly’s and Government’s policies on tax incentives to support enterprises from the beginning of the year to help businesses restore production, business, import and export.

In addition, Da Nang Customs has carried out tasks assigned by the General Department of Customs on drastically implementing solutions to facilitate trade, improve the effectiveness of state management, and prevent loss of revenue in the implementation of budget collection tasks in 2022.

The head of Customs Supervision and Management Division under Da Nang Customs Department Cao Van Nhan said that the spirit of accompanying and sharing difficulties with businesses affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and considering businesses as partners has been widely performance throughout the unit, with many specific solutions that are close to situation of businesses. In particular, there should be no interruption in customs clearance activities.

The unit has strengthened reform, modernization, application of IT (building software applications), worked with units in the area such as banks, treasury, domestic tax to support import-export businesses such as the 24/7 import-export tax payment program.

Thanks to the implementation of solutions, a number of commodities had impressive results in terms of import-export turnover and tax amount compared to the same period in 2021.

Specifically sand and quartz powder recorded an increase of 23.4% in taxable export turnover and 37.8% in tax payables; scrap aluminum products saw a growth of 66.4% in taxable export turnover and 82.3% in tax payables; auto components, spare parts and accessories rose by 42.1% in taxable import turnover and 45.2% in tax payables; and machinery, tools and equipment increased by 37% in taxable imported turnover and 33.4% in tax payables.

As of August 20, 2022, Da Nang Customs Department collected VND3,819.7 billion, or 84.9% of the assigned estimate (VND4,500 billion), an increase of 12.5% ​​year-on-year (VND3,393.6 billion).

Closely followi revenues and combat loss of revenue

Now the pandemic situation is controlled and production and business are recovering, businesses have started to return to work, though at a slow rate, according to the Import-Export Tax Division under Da Nang Customs Department.

On the other hand, the impact from the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the disruption of the supply chain of goods and the frequent rainy and stormy weather at the end of the year will significantly affect the production, business and import-export activities of enterprises.

To fulfill the assigned revenue task, from now until the end of the year, in addition to solutions to accompany and facilitate businesses, Da Nang Customs Department will strengthen the fight against loss of revenue through inspection of customs clearance, post-customs clearance audit, specialised inspection, fighting against smuggling and trade fraud; improve the effectiveness of customs inspection and control; and strengthen the management of imported cars as gifts.

The unit will accelerate the inspection and valuation; price consultations for goods suspected of undervalue declaration; and inspect and review the customs value of goods with high tax rates and large import turnover with a focus on imported cars.

The unit will also strengthen the inspection and review of goods names, codes, and tax rates at the customs clearance stage and post-customs clearance stages to handle cases of incorrect declaration of codes and names or unclear declaration to enjoy a low tax rate. The unit will focus on reviewing and grasping the tax debt situation; classifying debt groups, tax debt status of businesses and drastically handle, coerce and recover tax debt.

Da Nang Customs Department expects the budget revenue of the whole year 2022 to reach VND4,860 billion, up 8.3% of the assigned estimate.
