Six export commodity groups see billion-dollar growth

From the beginning of the year to December 15, there were six key export commodity groups with an increase in turnover of US$1 billion or more, according to the latest statistics of the General Department of Customs.

Specifically, from the beginning of the year to December 15, 2024, Vietnam's total export turnover reached US$385.35 billion, an increase of 13.9% (or US$46.92 billion) compared to the same period in 2023.

Notably, there were 6 key export commodity groups recording an increase in turnover of 1 billion USD or more.

Of which, computers, electronic products and components achieved the highest increase of US$14.38 billion (or 26.6%). This was also the only commodity group with a growth of tens of billions of dollars.

The remaining five groups of goods include: machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts increased by US$8.54 billion (or 20.8%); textiles and garments US$3.29 billion (or 10.4%); wood and wood products US$2.63 billion (or 20.6%); footwear of all kinds US$2.35 billion (or 12.21%); phones and components US$1.14 billion (or 2.26%).

With US$32.33 billion, the above six groups alone accounted for 68.9% of the total increased export turnover of the whole country.
