In order to strengthen the tax debt collection, from the beginning of 2017 to now, the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) has requested municipal and provincial Customs departments to classify and drastically apply measures to urge, recover and handle Tax debts.
In addition, the GDVC also assigned the target of recovering and handling tax debts in 2017 to each unit under Decision 1084/QD-TCHQ dated 31st December 2017, with the total amount of 1,307 billion VND.
According to a report from local Customs departments, in the first 8 months of 2017, the total amount of tax debts which were recovered and handled was 210.9 billion VND, reaching 16.14% compared to the assigned target.

It is known that a number of tax debts with the Customs are mainly bad debts. Because these debts of businesses that still operate when the Customs agencies verify, but in fact, they do not operate. Besides, the tax debts arising in post-clearance audits, so many businesses still delay or complain about tax payment.
