Deputy Director General Luu Manh Tuong requested that during the Drug Prevention and Control Action Month of 2024 (June), affiliated units promote propaganda and dissemination of legal documents and directions of leaders at all levels to raise awareness and sense of responsibility of customs officials, civil servants, partners, and businesses with import and export activities in coordinating the fight against drugs, especially in border areas, border gates, and "hot spots" for drug crimes.

On May 27, 2024, the Government Office issued document No. 3631/VPCP-KGVX on the implementation of the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control in 2024 (from June 1 to June 30, 2024) with the theme " Join hands to build drug-free communes, wards and towns."

Therefore, affiliated units should strengthen professional measures, master the area, manage to collect and analyze information, and basic investigation related to illegal trading and transportation of narcotics and illegal drugs and illegal activities related to precursors to successfully establish and implement plans and specialized projects to strengthen the fight against illegal activities related to drugs and precursors in the customs ​​operation area. Especially, the management and control of import and export, and control of the final stage in the production of precursors in general and precursors used in the industrial sector in particular should be much more paid attention to.

Focus on improving the effectiveness of presiding and coordinating between the Customs agency and functional and core forces such as the Police force in preventing and combating drug crimes on land, sea borders, aviation and express delivery to proactively detect, fight, and synchronously deploy measures. Of which, taking prevention as the main priority, proactively grasping and controlling the situation to fight and stop drugs early, from afar; implementing overall solution to reduce supply and demand as well as harmful effects of drugs.

Regarding direct combat work, the Deputy Director General requested the customs control force, the drug control task force and border gate customs branches throughout the Industry to strengthen direction and organize the effective implementation of professional measures as well as correct and complete implementation of processes and procedures for inspection, supervision and customs control of exported and imported goods, vehicles exiting, entering and in transit at the control customs area to proactively and promptly detect, prevent and handle cases of illegal trading and transportation of drugs and precursors.

Coordinate closely and effectively with the specialized drug crime prevention and control force to deploy a peak attack to suppress drug-related crimes, focusing on key and complex routes and areas. about drugs.

In particular, focus on coordinating in exchanging information, building and implementing tasks, requirements, and plans to strengthen the fight against illegal drug transportation in current "hot" areas and a number of important areas and border gates; Ensuring timely, consistent implementation from beginning to end, meeting professional requirements, security and effectiveness in combating drug transportation

Regularly organize meetings, summaries to exchange information, and coordinate to fight common projects, ensuring synchronization and unity.

Strengthen comprehensive and practical coordination between specialized forces on drug prevention and control, and relevant units of ministries and branches in controlling legal activities related to drugs.

Focus on enhancing updating, collecting, analyzing and evaluating information on import and export activities of precursors; From there, identify and have an effective inspection, control and management plan for businesses, companies, factories, workshops, industrial parks, and key export processing zones in the area of ​​customs operation; promptly capture, detect, prevent, handle, and prevent criminals from taking advantage of domestic drug production...

In the first 5 months of 2024, the entire Customs sector have chaired and coordinated with functional forces (Police, Border Guard, Coast Guard) to detect and arrest 134 cases, 159 subjects (of which Customs presided over 49 cases), the total number of exhibits seized was more than 650.2kg of all kinds of drugs, an increase of 44% in the number of seizures and an increase of 15.5% in the number of exhibits seized compared to the same period last year.

The leaders of the General Department of Customs also requested to promote propaganda and dissemination of laws and knowledge on drug prevention and control to officials, civil servants, and employees in units and businesses with import and export activities and the community about the consequences and harmful effects of drugs, new drugs and tricks as well as illegal use, production, trading and transportation of drugs..
