Nghe An Customs seizes 5 suspects in major drug trafficking bust

VCN - In line with its 2024 customs control plan, the Nam Can International Border Gate Customs Branch (Nghe An Customs Department), in collaboration with the Nam Can International Border Guard Station (under the Nghe An Border Defense Command), successfully apprehended five foreign nationals involved in illegal drug trafficking.

At 2:30 p.m. on November 4, 2024, during a routine inspection at the Nam Can International Border Gate in Ky Son District, Nghe An Province, the joint force caught five foreign suspects in the act. The suspects were identified as Dalavong Kinnaveth, born in 1996; Phabou Misouda, born in 2005; Chotthvong Khat, born in 2000; Chanthavong Hongfa, born in 2002—all residents of Vientiane, Laos—and Lasengthong Yotdaling, born in 1992, from Khammouane Province, Laos.

At the scene, competent forces discovered a significant quantity of ketamine hidden within the driver’s seat and fuel tank.

After conducting a thorough search, the task force seized 70 kilograms of ketamine and a Lao-registered vehicle with license plate number 1628.

The suspects and evidence have been handed over to the Border Defense Forces for further investigation and legal proceedings.
