The meeting was jointly held by the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) and International Narcotics Control Board (INCB).

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department, Quang Ninh Customs Department, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes (C04) and Northern Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.

According to Deputy Director of the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department, Nguyen Van On, Vietnam’s competent authorities, especially the Police, Customs and Border Guard have actively detected and busted big drug-related criminal cases.

However, due to the increase in drug trafficking and transportation on all routes and more complicated tricks of criminals, the drug control needs to be strengthened by Vietnam’s competent agencies and the anti-smuggling force of Vietnam Customs.

Thus, the drug law enforcement agencies need to regularly cooperate and exchange information on drug prevention and update methods and tools to support searching and sharing information to prevent illegal drug trafficking and transportation cases.

Within the framework of cooperation with INCB, motivated by the great effort of the two sides, many training courses aiming to raise awareness and qualification in anti-drugs work have been launched and achieved positive results. Vietnam Customs has participated in the campaign collecting operational information on the trafficking of dangerous substances launched by INCB.

“Following the achievements and realizing the efficiency of sharing experiences and collecting information on arrests and cases related to drug precursors and substances, the GDVC has coordinated with the INCB to hold the networking meeting and training SINCB intelligence tools for drug law enforcement officers of Vietnam, aiming to open effective cooperation between Vietnam's law enforcement agencies in drug-control and equip useful working support tool to officers. I believe that the meeting will provide meaningful and practical information for customs operation," said Deputy Director of the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department.

The meeting will open a promising and effective cooperation opportunity between the GDVC, C04 and Drugs and Crime Drug Enforcement Force to implement the common national and regional goals of ensuring security and human safety, Deputy Director Nguyen Van On said.

At the meeting, the representatives shared information on arrests, methods of concealment of dangerous substances, and challenges; discussed cross-sectoral cooperation to strengthen the efficiency of preventing illegal transportation of new psychotropic and dangerous substances between law enforcement agencies.
