The General Department of Vietnam Customs has developed procedures related to customs control at the airport towards digital transformation, digital customs model and smart customs.

The customs procedures are referenced and built from the customs control model at Inchon International Airport (South Korea), Changji International Airport (Singapore) and practical experience at Noi Bai International Airport and Tan Son Nhat international Air Port.

In order to ensure customs control at the Long Thanh International Airport Project, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has sent an official dispatch to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to provide official requirements on procedures, working site, customs supervision equipment such as scanners, camera systems and luggage tracking device.

In the near future, the country’s top customs regulator will continue to monitor and coordinate with relevant agencies in the construction of Long Thanh International Airport, to prepare the conditions for customs management when the airport comes into operation.

The GDVC has set up a working team to implement the Project, led by Deputy Director General of Customs Mai Xuan Thanh and members as leaders of technical departments and local customs departments.

The working team is the focal point to work with the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam and contractors in the project, and report to the Ministry of Finance to propose the appropriate total investment in each phase; receive land to build the headquarters of the customs branch in the first phase of the project and work with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam in applying for land to build the headquarters.

The working group is in charge of collecting information and design documents from contractors, conducting field research and surveys at Long Thanh International Airport, and giving comments on the designs for each item related to customs control.
