Binh Duong Customs: Launching the second centralized checkpoint

VCN- On May 27, Binh Duong Customs Department held the inauguration ceremony of a centralized checkpoint equipped with a container scanner at Tan Cang-Song Than ICD under the management of Song Than Customs Branch. This is the second checkpoint atBinh Duong Customs Department to reduce the physical inspection time for enterprises.

Director of Binh Duong Customs Department Nguyen Phuoc Viet Dung said that following direction by the Ministry of Finance, the General Department of Vietnam Customs and the Provincial People's Committee, at the beginning of 2018, the department coordinated with Tan Cang-Song Than ICD One Member Limited to establish the second centralized checkpoint at Tan Cang-Song Than ICD. In November 2018, Binh Duong Customs Department was equipped with a secondmobile container scanner.Secretary of Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee, Tran Van Nam, Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, Tran Thanh Liem, Deputy Director General of Customs Customs,Nguyen Duong Thai and representatives of departments and business associations of Binh Duong province attended the ceremony .

Together with the existing container scanner that has operated since March 15, 2013 at Customs Branch managing import and export cargo outside the Industrial Zone, the operation of this new container scanner has ensured the rate of cargo checked by scanners at Binh Duong Customs Department reached 100% of the number of declarations with containers subject to physical inspection. On average there are more than 45 containers/day. This achievement will contribute to shortening Customs clearance time, reduce cost and facilitate the business community in the province. Enhancing the quality and efficiency of Customs management, especially in combating smuggling and trade frauds.

At the the ceremony, Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee Tran Thanh Liem highlighted the operation of modern mobile container scanners at Tan Cang Song Than ICD, which play an important role for the social economic development of Binh Duong province in general and the import and export activities of Binh Duong province in particular.

Liem proposed Binh Duong Customs Department to perform the exploitation and operation of the centralized cargo checkpoint via mobile container scanner at Tan Cang Song Than ICD, contributing to supporting and saving time and cost, ensuring better inspection and Customs clearance for import and export goods and effectively prevent smuggling and trade fraud in import and export activities.

On behalf of leaders of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Deputy Director General Nguyen Duong Thai appreciated the results of cargo inspection via container scanners of Binh Duong Customs. Although there is a container scanner installed at the centralized checkpoint at Highway 13, Binh Duong Customs is one of the leading units in promoting the effectiveness of using container scanners the frequency of screening cargo through container scanners is significant and reach the highest rate of violations detection.

Using this modern container scanner, Thai requested Binh Duong Customs Department to continue promoting the use of these scannersto enhance the efficiency of screening and screening frequency to perform risk management and determining targets to increase the rate of discovering infringing goods through screening.

Binh Duong Customs Department should pay attention to selecting qualified customs officers when using scanners and focus on rotating and shifting officers using the two container scanners appropriately.

Binh Duong Customs Department should continue to facilitate the import and export activities of enterprises in the province.

Manager of Song Than Customs Branch, Huynh Van Ut said, from March 25, 2019, the centralized cargo checkpoint at Tan Cang-Song Than ICD under the management of the branch has completed construction and put into operation a second mobile container scanner

So far, the branch has inspected via screening 680 declarations of 830 containers. The number of violations detected by screening is one case. Along with synchronous solutions, the deployment of screening cargo via container scanners at Binh Duong Customs Department has facilitatedthe import and export activities through the province and has maintained growth , attracting a large number of enterprisesto carry out customs procedures, thereby contributing to increasing budget revenue.
