Bac Ninh Customs commits to facilitating Apple and its partners

On June 3, 2024, leaders of Bac Ninh Customs Department had a working session with representatives of Apple Group.
At the meeting, Deputy Director of Bac Ninh Customs Department Pham Chi Thanh said: Bac Ninh Customs Department is managing 6,500 businesses. In 2022 and 2023, the unit’s trade turnover reached No. 1 in the entire industry.
“The unit has 209 officers and civil servants, and its headquarters is spread across the three provinces of Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Thai Nguyen.
To solve the current huge workload, Bac Ninh Customs Department has maximally applied the information technology system, reformed administrative procedures, as well as applied modern technologies to carry out procedures as quickly as possible for businesses in the area", Deputy Director Pham Chi Thanh shared.
Bac Ninh Customs Department also carry out procedures for a large number of multinational businesses and corporations. In particular, Apple's partner businesses have made great contributions to import-export turnover in the areas under the department’s management (Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces).
In 2023 alone, the import-export turnover of Apple's partners reached US$18.9 billion, accounting for 11.8% of the total import-export turnover of the Bac Ninh Customs Department; the total number of declarations reached 126,000, accounting for 7.5% of the total customs declarations of the entire department.
Bac Ninh Customs Department highly appreciates the investment, production and business activities of Apple's partners, which have greatly contributed to the socio-economic development of the province.
Bac Ninh Customs Department hopes to become a cooperative partner with Apple, thereby helping to enhance the position of the Customs agency among investors.
Sharing policies and solutions to facilitate the business community and promote the development of import-export activities, Deputy Director of Bac Ninh Customs Department Pham Chi Thanh said that the unit always deploys synchronously, and drastically administrative reform and customs modernization to meet management requirements and better serve the import-export activities of the business community in general, including Apple’s partners, shortening customs clearance time as well as resolving arising problems quickly.
Bac Ninh Customs Department has sent working groups to visit and work directly at large enterprises and corporations in Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Thai Nguyen provinces, including Apple's partners to understand their production and business situation, major difficulties and their recommendations and proposals on State policies on customs management.
At the meeting, Ms. Cindy Luar, Director of Trade Compliance, Asia-Pacific region said that the results achieved by Bac Ninh Customs Department demonstrate the efforts and commitments of Customs officials and civil servants in trade facilitation.
The Apple representative also proposed that the two sides establish an open communication channel to help Apple better improve production and business activities.
Ms. Cindy Luar also wishes to establish, consolidate and further strengthen the good relationship between Apple and the Bac Ninh Customs Department and its affiliated customs branches; production partners in the three provinces of Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen.

Regarding Apple's proposal, the leader of Bac Ninh Customs Department said that in the near future, the Department will soon arrange a focal point for the two sides to promptly share relevant information, contributing to promoting production and business activities of Apple and its partners.
