Maintain operations during lockdown period

An Giang Customs Department said the headquarters of Khanh Binh Border Gate Customs Branch is located in an area that has been locked down and implemented social distancing according to Directive 16/CT-TTg from July 5. After being locked down, the unit reported to the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of An Giang Customs Department and quickly implemented a response.

Deputy Director of Khanh Binh Border Gate Customs Branch Vu Thi Gai Nho said to maintain customs clearance, the branch's leaders have assigned customs officers to work at the road customs clearance area and Dong Duc customs clearance area (outside the locked-down headquarters).

Four customs officers will perform tasks at these two areas and the rest officers will stay at the office to work. Due to the appearance of new F0 cases, the lockdown is expected to last until July 25, 2021.

On July 10, through quick tracing of a F0 case who carried out export procedures for live fish at the road clearance area of Khanh Binh Border Gate Customs Branch, two customs officers were identified as F1 and 18 customs officers were F2. After going through Covid-19 testing, F1 and F2 cases are negative but F1 cases have been isolated.

In addition to checking documents via the electronic system, the physical inspection, supervision of goods and vehicles has been carried out smoothly. For border transfer goods that must be submitted with paper customs documents, the branch has asked for issuing a travel document for a customs officer in charge of receiving the document and quickly handle procedures for the goods.

Strengthen coordination

Managing an area with many border gates, including places in the area of ​​​​blockade, officers and employees of An Giang Customs Department are making efforts to overcome difficulties and perform tasks amid the peak period of pandemic.

According to the leader of An Giang Customs Department, the top of An Giang Customs Department has asked members of the department's Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention and control and heads of units to arrange customs officers to stay at the headquarters to work and minimise travel and communication

All customs officers and employees of border gate customs branches under An Giang Customs Department have stayed at the unit for many weeks now.

Khanh Binh border gate Customs Branch is under lockdown. All necessary work is done via the internal electronic system, by phoneand email.

Director of An Giang Customs Department Tran Quoc Hoan said the department's leaders have stood by and supported customs officers in task performance. Border customs branches must follow the developments of the pandemic in their management areas to guide customs officers.

To perform the assigned political tasks during the peak period of pandemic prevention and control, in the last six months of the year, the unit will continue to prioritise and maximise human resources and means to fight the pandemic and serve professional work at the border; require affiliated units to coordinate and share information with authorities in the area and accelerate coordination between competent forces in patrol, control and anti-smuggling to detect, arrest and strictly handle acts of smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal cross-border transportation of goods.
