GDVC’s Party Committee directs to well perform key tasks in the second half of 2024

In the first half of 2024, the Party Committee of the General Department of Vietnam Customs has directed the implementation of directives and resolutions of the Party and Government; and required Customs officers to make great efforts to achieve outstanding results.
The report on the results of the first half of 2024 of the Party Committee states that the Party Committee has led and directed Customs units to accomplish many political tasks. Specifically, the Committee requires the units to implement key projects and tasks, administrative reform; simplify and automate customs procedures; facilitate trade and collect state revenue; fight against crime; combat smuggling and trade fraud; prevent revenue loss…
Notably, the Committee requests all units to complete 6 projects to submit to the Ministry of Finance and 47 projects at the General Department level; implement key tasks of the Vietnam Customs Development Strategy until 2030; Plan for Customs reform, development and modernization until 2025; Plan for digital transformation of the Customs industry until 2025, with a vision to 2030, ensuring comprehensive digital transformation of Customs operations.
By the end of June, the entire Customs industry collected VND200,460 billion, meeting 53.5% of the estimate, an increase of 8.4% year-on-year.
From December 16, 2023 to June 14, 2024, the Customs industry detected, arrested and handled 8,201 Customs offences with the estimated value of infringing goods at VND16,173 billion. The Customs prosecuted 11 cases, and handed over 89 cases to other agencies for prosecution, and VND381.4 billion.
In the fight against drugs (from December 16, 2023 to May 15, 2024), the Customs industry presided and coordinated with the Police and Border Guard forces to arrest 183 cases/216 suspects, including 69 cases arrested by the Customs; and seized about 1.0270 tons of drugs.

At the conference, Director General Customs Nguyen Van Can emphasized that in the first half of 2024, the GDVC’s Party Committee has promoted its leadership role in carrying out political tasks of the Customs industry. He praised the efforts of the affiliated party cells and party committees for fulfilling their assigned tasks well and following directions of leaders.
In the second half of 2024, Director General Nguyen Van Can proposed that the Party Committee and party organizations need to promote their leadership and direction role in performing well the key tasks in 2024.
