70 tonnes of smuggled sugar were camouflaged under waste bags

A truck transports smuggled sugar is camouflaged under the waste bags.

According to the Market Management Team 2A, during the reconnaissance, in the morning of 16^th May 2017, the working group discovered two trucks with control plate 51C-269.34 and 60C-102.73 had signs of overcharge. When the truck were pulling in Thanh Phat store at 55A street, Kinh C street, Quarter 5, Tan Tao A Ward, Binh Tan District, the Market Management Team 2A went inside to inspect.

At the inspection time, the team found on the car contained a lot of waste bags, but this is only a camouflage method. The working group unloaded waste bags and it exposed hundreds of bags of sugar in the trunk. The total weight is nearly 50 tons.

At the same time, the working group conducted inspections in the warehouse, they discovered tens of tons of sugar contained in the bags with the brand that originating from Thailand, without vouchers, preserve in wet place. Total smuggled sugar is about 70 tons.

The owner of the shipment was identified as Nguyen Thi Ngoc Xiem, 30 years old, came from Tien Giang province. Furthermore, the shipment was able to be imported from Cambodia to An Giang and transported to the above warehouse for domestic consumption then it was arrested.
