65,000 Covid-19 test kits seized at Noi Bai Airport
Customs officers inspect infringing goods. |
According to a representative of Unit 1, the unit coordinated with Noi Bai Customs Branch, Customs Enforcement Team (under Hanoi Customs Department) to inspect a shipment transported from the Czech Republic and transited in Turkey to Vietnam across Noi Bai International Airport, and detected a large number of test kits on March 17 and 18.
The test kit is a conditional imported good, but smugglers take advantage of the import in the form of gifts to outsmart the detection of competent forces.
Regarding the smuggling case of Covid-19 test kits at Noi Bai International Airport on February 12, the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department led and collaborated with Noi Bai Customs Department to inspect the shipment showing signs of smuggling and customs offenses.
The shipment was transported from South Korea to Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, Vietnam.
Through the inspection, the Customs discovered 85,000 Covid-19 test kits made in South Korea worth over VND8 billion.
According to regulations, the Covid-19 test kit is a conditional import item, and is required to be granted a permit by the Ministry of Health. However, smugglers falsely declared names of goods to smuggle them.
Currently, Customs is investigating the case.
