More than 85,000 Covid-19 rapid test kits illegally imported from South Korea seized
On February 17, at Noi Bai international airport, the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department (General Department of Customs) chaired and coordinated with Hanoi Customs Department to inspect an imported shipment of Covid-19 quick test kits showing signs of smuggling and violating customs law, said the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department.
The shipment was transported from South Korea to Vietnam via Noi Bai international airport, Hanoi.
As a result, the authorities discovered more than 85,000 Covid-19 rapid test kits of all kinds originating from South Korea, valued at over VND8 billion.
According to regulations, Covid-19 test kits are conditional imports and must be licensed by the Ministry of Health. However, the suspects declared generic goods and wrong names of goods to illegally import them.
The case is being further investigated by the Customs authority.
Some photos of the infringing shipment were taken at the scene by a reporter of Customs News.
