Vietnam Customs proposes Chinese Customs to coordinate in anti-smuggling of Covid-19 test kits
Head of Division 2 under the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department Pham Thi Thu Huong speaks at the conference. |
On behalf of Vietnam Customs, Head of Division 2 under the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department Pham Thi Thu Huong provided some information on cooperation in combating smuggling and commercial fraud.
First, Vietnam Customs asked Chinese Customs to collaborate in the fight against smuggling and fraud of medical equipment.
“Through a review of statistical data, the Vietnamese Customs found that Vietnam’s enterprises have imported test kits, chemicals, raw materials for production of biological products for Covid-19 prevention from China. In order to prevent smuggling as well as fraud in import and export activities, Vietnam Customs proposed China Customs to assist in providing export data including the name of the Chinese exporters and Vietnamese importers, the quantity and transaction value of this item," said Ms. Pham Thi Thu Huong.
Second, Vietnam Customs asked Chinese Customs should coordinate in the fight against illegal money transfers.
According to the representative of the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department, recently some businesses have taken advantage of the regime of bonded warehouse storage to sign sales contracts with foreign countries for semiconductors used for production of electronic components that are suspected of being involved in illegal large-scale money transfers between Vietnamese-Chinese enterprises and Hong Kong (China), in which Vietnamese enterprises act as intermediaries.
Therefore, Vietnam Customs suggested China Customs to cooperate in investigating and verifying the existence of partner businesses in China and Hong Kong and money transfer transactions between partners.
In addition, Vietnam Customs proposed to coordinate in the fight against price fraud for some commodity groups such as plywood and aluminum.
