Van Don Airport expected to welcome 7 million international passengers in 2020

VCN - Van Don International Airport will execute the goal of receiving 16 million visitors. In particular, welcoming 7 million international visitors by 2020 and 30 million visitors by 2030, including 15 million international visitors.

To officially welcome the first international flight, Cam Pha port Customs Branch (the unit was assigned by Quang Ninh Customs Department to implement customs procedures at Van Don Airport – written by reporter) is preparing the necessary conditions for implementing state management activities of Customs.

Also according to the Branch leader, the unit is currently reviewing and reporting to leaders of Quang Ninh Customs Department to supplement and arrange customs officials in order to carry out customs procedures at Van Don Airport.

For deploying the first activities at Van Don airport, a group of customs officials and civil servants of the Technique Team implemented procedures.

In the coming time, the Branch will continue to propose to Quang Ninh Customs Department for reporting to the General Department of Vietnam Customs to establish a Procedure Team at Van Don Airport.

Van Don International Airport is invested by Sun Group under the form of BOT (Build - Operate - Transfer) with a capital of 7,700 billion VND.

As a 4E-class airport under the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standard and a military airport level II, Van Don International Airport can handle all the most modern aircraft on the world. The station capacity in phase I reaches 2.5 million passengers/year; cargo handling area with a capacity of 10 thousand tons/year.

Van Don International Airport began to open flight routes of Ho Chi Minh City - Van Don on 30/12/2018.

Until now, there are 3 domestic airlines including Vietnam Airline and Vietjet Air (opened on 20/1/2019) and Bamboo Airway (opened on 2/2/ 2019), that are jointly operating the flight route of Ho Chi Minh City - Van Don and vice versa.
