According to the report of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department, in 2024, the world and regional situation continue to develop complicatedly, affecting the import and export activities of enterprises.

In that context, the unit has strengthened administrative procedure reform, thoroughly applied information technology to professional expertise to serve customs modernization. At the same time, strengthen customs control; tighten discipline and administrative discipline in performing official duties to ensure publicity and transparency, facilitating import and export, entry and exit, transit activities, etc in the management area.

Thanks to that, the activities of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department are still guaranteed to be maintained and implemented in accordance with the procedures, regulations, work programs and plans set out.

As of December 9, the unit has completed procedures for nearly 2,000 enterprises with nearly 224,100 declarations. Compared to 2023, the number of enterprises increased by 13% and the number of declarations increased by 15%. Import-export turnover also recorded growth of over 11%, reaching nearly 25 billion VND.

State budget revenue as of December 9 reached 19,825 billion VND, reaching 110% of the legal target and increasing by over 24% over the same period last year.

Authorized by the President, Deputy General Director Luu Manh Tuong awarded the Second Class Labor Medal to Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang.

In addition, in the face of the complicated situation of smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal transportation of goods across the border, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department has directed units to strengthen the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and illegal transportation of goods across the border.

As a result, in coordination with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police, 8 cases of illegal drug trafficking and storage were arrested, an increase of 1 case compared to 2023; 44 cases of goods were physically examined and inspected at border gates with signs and suspected violations in the field of Customs.

As of December 9, the unit had handled nearly 500 administrative violations in the field of Customs with a fine of 3.34 billion VND. In the post-clearance inspection work, the unit has carried out 67 inspections with a total amount of tax determination and administrative fines of over 12 billion VND.

With the efforts and results achieved, on this occasion, Director of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department Nguyen Truong Giang was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal. In addition, 4 collectives and 15 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, Certificates of Merit from the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, and Certificates of Merit from the General Director of the Customs General Department.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Director General Luu Manh Tuong praised and highly appreciated the achievements of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department in 2024.

"In the context of limited staff resources, handling customs procedures for the high growth in import and export goods has shown great efforts of all cadres, civil servants and employees in the unit" - Deputy Director General Luu Manh Tuong assessed.

In addition, the fact that Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department exceeded the 2024 budget revenue target has great significance in the overall results of the whole sector, because this is one of the 10 units with the largest revenue in the sector.

Entering 2025, Deputy Director General Luu Manh Tuong emphasized that although the 2024 budget revenue of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department exceeded the target quite high. However, the assigned target in 2025 will continue to increase compared to the achieved results. This is a difficult task in the context of the world economic and political situation with many unpredictable unknowns such as the policies of US President Donald Trump and trade conflicts between major countries.

Accordingly, the Deputy Director General requested Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department to analyze and re-evaluate the revenue structure to have appropriate solutions, ensuring the completion of the assigned target.

Regarding the task of handling procedures and facilitating import and export goods, the Deputy Director General predicted that with a strong investment in transport infrastructure, the volume of goods will certainly grow strongly. Meanwhile, according to the Government's general policy, in 2025, the Customs sector will reorganize its apparatus in a streamlined manner. This will lead to changes in procedures as well as legal regulations.

To ensure the smooth flow of import and export goods during the reorganization process, the Deputy Director General requested Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department to actively participate in giving opinions on the development of new procedures. At the same time, review the staff, understand their capacity, qualifications, and strengths to be able to assign appropriate tasks. The information technology system also needs to be ready to be re-established when required, etc.

In addition, the Deputy Director General also requested Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department to continue to effectively implement activities to remove difficulties for businesses; do a good job of fighting smuggling, trade fraud, post-clearance inspection, etc to meet the requirements of State management of Customs in the area.
