Accompany businesses

The results of the District and the Department Competitiveness Index (DDCI) of Thanh Hoa Province in 2021 have been announced by Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee.

More than 2,000 valid questionnaires have been received. As a result, Thanh Hoa Customs Department achieved 77.78/100 points, ranked 2nd/25th of the departments and agencies of the province, and is one of the five units with a high ranking together with the Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Justice, Office of the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Inspector.

Notably, in the business support index, Thanh Hoa Customs reached 8.44/10, ranked 1st/25thof units; the time cost index reached 7.97/10, ranked 2nd/25th; the index of dynamism and the role of the leader reached 9.03/10, ranked 3rd/25th; the index of transparency and information access: 8.03/10, ranked 4th/25th; the informal cost index ranked 6th/25th; the equal competition index ranked 5th/25th; and the Legal Institutions Index ranked 5th/25th.

These results recognize the efforts in accompanying and supporting businesses to overcome difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic by Thanh Hoa Customs Department.

Director of Thanh Hoa Customs Department Le Xuan Hue said Thanh Hoa Customs has always paid attention to accompanying and removing difficulties and obstacles for businesses not only in the Customs-Business partnership development conference but these are regular tasks in order to both support and create maximum advantages for businesses and contribute to raising the awareness of legal compliance of enterprises.

At the same time, the department is committed to accompanying and supporting businesses in a timely manner, quickly overcoming difficulties caused by the pandemic, promoting the Customs-Business partnership and meeting business satisfaction.

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of VCCI branch in Thanh Hoa, said that the Customs sector and Thanh Hoa Customs Department have always led in administrative reform and supporting import and export activities of businesses in the province, helping them save time and costs, increase competitiveness, and attract investors to Nghi Son – key economic zone of Thanh Hoa.

According to Ms. Mai Thi Binh, import-export officer of Hoali Leather Footwear Group at Thanh Hoa branch, the support of officers of Thanh Hoa Customs Department has helped her company quickly go through customs clearance and receive goods for production in a timely manner.

Especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, procedures were still processed normally, and the customs department arranged for officers to work overtime to support businesses.

Ms. Ha Thi Ngoc Minh, import-export officer of Sakurai Co., Ltd., said that as a big company making more than 1,000 declarations per month, the regular and timely coordination activities of Thanh Hoa Customs helped the company maintain its operations, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Strengthen cooperation activities

The cooperation activities with enterprises of Thanh Hoa Customs Department have been strengthened. The department has actively worked with enterprises that have regular import and export activities and large tax payments, customs agents, transport businesses, and warehousing operators to promptly solve problems, developed regular cooperation relationships with import-export service enterprises; coordinated with enterprises in the supervision of import and export goods and means of transport on exit, entry and in transit; and worked with enterprises to improve operations and management information technology systems of enterprises. The unit has also actively provided information and held dialogue conferences with the business community, creating a friendly working environment.

Currently, solutions to support businesses have been actively offered by Thanh Hoa Customs Department, especially performing the advisory role in line with the province's development orientation and conditions, creating an open and convenient business and investment environment, contributing to attracting businesses to carry out import and export procedures to increase budget revenue for Thanh Hoa province.

The unit has also strengthened consultation activities for businesses in implementing digital transformation in the state management of customs, including data digitization, data connection, digital database building, solutions to support businesses in digital transformation, roles and responsibilities of businesses in accompanying the Customs in digital transformation; customs management for imports and exports transacted via e-commerce; recommendations and proposals of enterprises to improve legal policies; solutions to prevent cargo congestion at border gates and customs checkpoints due to epidemics and natural disasters.

In addition, Thanh Hoa Customs Department has enhanced cooperation with warehouse, yard and port operators in the management of centralized inspection locations for import and export goods, machinery and equipment of export processing and production enterprises; improve the capacity of the customs officers; strengthen the fight against smuggling and trade fraud, focusing on key commodities; combating origin fraud, counterfeiting trademarks, etc., contributing to increasing budget revenue, preventing revenue loss, building a healthy business environment, and ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of businesses and consumers.
