Suspected hundreds kilogram of pangolin scab “under the cloak” of rose in Hai Phong
On 6/7, the Customs Enforcement Team (Hai Phong Customs Department) opened and searched a container that suspected of containing prohibited goods.
The shipments were originated from Pakistan, imported to Dinh Vu Port (Hai Phong) in early of July 2017, the declared information on bill of lading was dried roses. Furthermore, the company named on the bill of lading is an enterprise with the function of temporary import and re-export, operating on bonded warehouse. However, the enterprise has a document of refusal to receive the goods.
Through the process of investigation, Hai Phong Customs Enforcement Team suspected the shipments have prohibited goods and coordinated with the Police Department of environmental crime investigation - PC 49 (Hai Phong City Public Security) to conduct a physical inspection.
As a result, besides the dried roses as a declaration, inside the shipments also contain large quantities of hundreds of pangolin scabs. The case is being investigated by the Customs.
