Strengthen to inspect and supervise imported wood from Africa

Customs forces detected and seized many smuggling cases of wood.

Accordingly, the units need to strengthen the inspection and supervision of customs clearance for imported wood from Africa.

In the case of detecting goods with the above names or suspected of having such goods in the declaration, the unit has to inform to the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department for inspection and verification.

Previously, on 24^th February 2017, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Circular No. 04/2017 / TT-BNNPTNT to promulgate the list of wild animals and plants regulated in the Public Appendices of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.

In Section H of the Nomenclature, it added the item of "Giang Huong Tay phi", scientific name "Pterocarpus erinaceous, English name "Senegal rosewood" in Annex II.

This Circular takes effect from 10th April 2017, however, the contents of the List of Circular 04 have been applied by the States Parties since January of 2017 (according to the notification of the CITES Vietnam).
