Seize a car transported 160 smuggled China mobile phones

The mobile phone was sized by Quang Ninh Customs force.

Therefore, from the end of April of 2017 until now, Quang Ninh Customs force has discovered 3 cases and seized 600 smuggled mobile phones.

At 4:00 AM, on 19/5, at White Bridge area, Ha Tu Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province, the working group under Customs Enforcement Unit No.2 approached and inspected a car that has license plate No. 15B-027.45, discovered inside the trunk has 1 carton which contained 160 mobile phones, brand was MI and made in China. Those mobile phones were brand new 100% and did not have accessories.

At the inspection time, Mr. Ton Dinh Thanh – a car driver confessed that the above shipment was bought from a strange woman at Vinh Co-market (Mong Cai city) with the price of 350,000 vnd/phone. Mr Thanh did not have any documents to prove its legal origin of the shipment.

The Customs Enforcement Unit No.2 requested Mr. Thanh to take a car and all of the mobile phones to Quang Ninh Customs Department head office for handling in accordance with law.

Based on the report of violated goods value determination of Customs Enforcement Unit No.2 in coordination with Quang Ninh Department of Finance, the total value of that shipment is 80 million vnd.

Currently, Customs Enforcement Unit No.2 has transferred violation documents and proposed People’s Committee of Quang Ninh to issue a decision to handle administrative violation for Mr. Ton Dinh Thanh about “trading smuggled goods” and confiscates all the goods to State Budget.
